Champions Uncrowned

Still heartbroken over England's crushing loss on Sunday in the Euro 2020 finals. I had a chance to read Marcus Rashford's Instagram post from yesterday and I could feel myself tearing up a bit. These players give their all to the game they love while proudly representing their country. They should be revered as heroes and not subjected to vile and disgusting abuse.

Racism, antisemitism, and all xenophobic hate must be completely stamped out from football. It's likely an unrealistic aspiration to eradicate such hate both from the football world and in society at large, but everything that's possible must still need to be done. It's a goal that nonetheless must be strived for. There can only be a zero tolerance policy when it comes to combating racism and all forms of hate.

One can second-guess certain decisions from Southgate from Sunday's game, but all England players should be holding their heads high. Especially young players like Rashford, Sancho, and Saka. Harry Kane's tweet from earlier said it best.
