Under the Crown

Jewish volunteers from the Eretz Israel in service with the British Army during the Second World War. Thousands of Jews in British Mandatory Palestine volunteered for service in Her Majesty's armed forces in the fight against the Nazis.

Throughout the course of the war, Jewish soldiers from Eretz Yisrael saw action both in the Middle East and later in Europe as part of the British Army's Jewish Brigade.

The Palmach: 75th Anniversay

75 years ago the Palmach was born. The Palmach was the elite strike force of the Haganah. These brave warriors played a most crucial role in the defense of our Jewish homeland and independence as a nation.

Many members of the Palmach and Haganah also served as soldiers in the Jewish Brigade of the British Army during the Second World War, as well as in many dangerous missions with the Special Operations Executive. Following the war, many Palmachnikim would go on to form the backbone of the IDF. Today we commemorate this anniversary in honour of those who sacrificed and helped build and defend our nation. We salute you.
