Abraham Grossman Z"L
1925 - 2020 

Abraham Grossman was born in Güstrow in northeastern Germany in 1925. On the eve of the war he escaped to London with his brother on a kindertransport train. Grossman spent most of the war years in England and would go on to join the British Army's Jewish Brigade in 1944. He served in Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands - eventually returning as well to Germany as a soldier to be posted at Landsberg Prison in Bavaria. After meeting his wife in Europe, herself a German-born Jew, they sailed to Eretz Yisrael in 1947, settling in Kibbutz Yavneh. Grossman go on to serve with distinction and participate in the War of Independence as a fighter in the Haganah. He passed away from COVID-19 complications in Tel Aviv in October 2020 at the age of 95. May his memory be a blessing.
